Many have short runways and are challenging as they are high alitiude and have mountains near the approach ends so you need to plan your approaches carefully. This scenery included enhanced terrain of the mountains and a lot of airports to fly in and out of. Since I started this the Org Store has started selling scenery for the Mount Everest area which included Lukla ( ). I found the default 172 aircraft in X-Plane 11 will do OK at the airport but recommend the RW Designs DHC-6 Twin Otter ( ) or the Carenado DO220 100 ( ) or something similar to those two. P2ATC is reporting the weather as Clear, Winds light and variable QNH 0000 which I assume means that it thinks something is available but not reading it correctly. That of course makes it very important to stop in time. Im using V2.5.0.7圆4 and pointing the Active Sky folder in the config to C:usernameAppDataHiFiASXPWeather. The runway is extremely short with a wall at the end. What makes this airport challenging is that it is over 9,000 ft in elevation and only has one approach. So if you want to use it you have to disable the HD global mesh when flying that airport. Update 1/2010: A new SIM card was introduced. I found the following scenery which is very nice but it does not work with HD mesh. On GPRS, this is 32MB which would cover countless thousands of METARs/TAFs, and hundreds of weather radar images. The default airport in XP11 for VNLK only had the runway and no buildings, etc. almost no turbulence or aircraft movement whatsoever, but occasionally heavy turbulence. My main gripe with the default X-Plane weather is how buttery it felt. It comes with tons of settings, including how often the weather is refreshed, but I can't remember what the minimum interval is. Ever since I saw videos of aircraft landing at VNLK, Lukla in the Nepal mountains I wanted to try landing there. I purchased Active Sky XP may be a couple of months back. Another fun thing to do are landing challenges.
